Naruto Chapter 413: Crash
Summary: The eight-tails jinchuuriki channels his biju's power and critically injures Sasuke. Juugo attempts to save Sasuke by offering his chakra and flesh as the eight-tails appears in it's full form. (Read 413 here)
Serenphoria Says:
Whoa.
I wanted Sasuke to be taken down a couple of notches and get beat by the eight-tails and not only did Kishimoto deliver, he blew open Sasuke's chest.
The injury was a little too real for me to rejoice. It didn't involve screwing up internal chakra systems, or genjutsu, or anything strictly in the Narutoverse, but blood, guts, and bones. Too serious for it to just be embarrassing. Curse you Kishimoto, why can't you let me enjoy Sasuke's setbacks?
I haven't commented much on Juugo, but he's actually been helpful, a real team player. Still not a lot of personality, but reliable. I wonder if the deformities from the cursed seal is created from the person's existing body or there's some voodoo physics that creates mass from elsewhere. What are the consequences of Juugo giving up his 'flesh?' Is he going to be shorter? Lose some muscle mass? And if Itachi purged Sasuke of the cursed seal, will Sasuke's body reject the foreign parts? Does his teammates even know what came out of the Uchiha showdown?
With all the bits of people in Sasuke's body and the summons in Naruto, they have a team with them where ever they go. Guess it goes right along with Kishi's value of teamwork - there's no escaping it! It also means Naruto and Sasuke will never truly face each other on their own.
Other observations:
- Mr. Host's brother. Will he factor into the story? Do we already know him?
- Mr. Host and his biju are partners. Does this serve as a contrast to Naruto, or as a goal?
- More support that Sasuke is using this opportunity to learn about Naruto or validate what he knows.
- Karin's markings: not scars.
So Suigetsu. Does he only turn into water when he's thinking about it? Does it take a lot of effort or take a toll on his body when he does? Seems like a really handy power, but I haven't really thought about the price.
Just because it's got eight-tails, doesn't mean you have design an octopus hybrid, Kishimoto. *facepalms*

Please, please, PLEASE don't let this be a hallucination brought on by the Dread Pirate's Atomic Eye. Don't you DARE, Kishimoto. He's been begging to get his ass kicked from DAY ONE (of the timeskip). If it is all just a illusion I will be so very. Very. VERY pissed off.
I dunno about the whole cyborg Naruto and Sasuke thing blowing Kishimoto's concept of teamwork. When you think about how many foreign entities are hitching a ride in our intrepid protagonists, it's like a football team vs a football team. But maybe Mr. Octopus is here just so we can see how awesome Itachi's implant into Naruto actually is (*crosses fingers, and hopes for some firepower*).
Curse you Kishimoto, why can't you let me enjoy Sasuke's setback's?
This.
I was disappointed at Mr. Host's first transformation. Besides the bull head it looked exactly like Naruto's 'fox cloak' form. He even had claws and fangs! >_<
Well, at least he's doing a good job of showing us just how much of a badass Naruto could be if he ever gained control over the Kyuubi. Now I know why Jiraiya spent three years trying to get Naruto to do just that. Sorry I doubted you Ero-Sennin.
Why is it that every Jinchuuriki other than Naruto can go full beast mode? Gaara could do it, the two tails could do it, Mr. Host can do it... Naruto can only manage a gimped five (or was it four?) tailed Kyuubi D:
Also, a Kraken/Ox hybrid? Not as cool as a true Kraken, but it will do.
I'm also curious as to what Juugo's 'flesh' will do to Sasuke. Will he gain back the curse seal and it's abilities? Will Juugo suffer some kind of consequence for this? Will Itachi ever stop rolling in his grave?
As for Karin:
@_@
That is all.
I had the opposite idea for Sui, actually. I thought that maybe it takes effort on his part to stay in human form. *shrug* Also, after looking at puddle!Sui I just noticed that all known swordsmen from the mist have sharp teeth... Huh.
@taterbird
I doubt Sasuke would give the illusion that he's seriously injured! No illusions!
Actually, I agree with you on the teamwork comment -- I guess it sounded like I was saying the opposite? I edited for clarity, though I'm still not in love with the phrasing. Bah.
I don't see how Team Sasuke's going to get out of this, unless they high-tail it or they use Deus-ex-Machina no jutsu.
@nemesis jedi
I think Kraken here is the first jinchuuriki we've seen that is partners with his biju (Aside from the Nibi?). Gaara knew what it took to call his biju out to full form, but had little to no control. Guess that shows that those that learn to coexist with their biju grow to adulthood :) or vice versa.
This is Kishimoto. There will be Deus Ex Machina no Jutsu. There is ALWAYS Deus Ex Machina no Jutsu, unless it is Shikamaru. Then Shikamaru IS the Deus Ex Machina. No matter how loopy the situation, Sasuke is the Boy Scout that get s out of it. He's always got SOMETHING previously unmentioned but just what the situation needs. If the situation required it, there'd be some way for Sasuke to turn into a debutante or something. "Oh yeah? Pretty Pretty Princess no Jutsu! Prepare to meet your end!"
The blood and gore didn't throw me off laughing at him, but then I KNOW Kishi won't kill him, and I really-really-Really Hate Sasuke.
Ok, so I'm playing Persona 3, which is nifty 'cause they use all sorts of legendary beings, gods and goddesses, for personas. Anyway, so I get pretty high level and lo what persona do I get--a Chinese Eight Armed Bull named Chi You that supposedly invented/gave every weapon ever invented to the Chinese.
Guess who it made me think of.
