Naruto Chapter 417: Raikage Makes His Move
Summary: Naruto is winding down his training. Team Taka is recuperating. Raikage orders that the five kages meet to deal with the Akatsuki. (Read 417 here)

The Konoha elders were the ones responsible for Neji's pain. I was indifferent when Sasuke had a vendetta, but now I want them DEAD. Or better, have Neji SPARE THEIR LIVES knowing they could have died by his pretty pretty hands. Neji, not Sasuke. I don't think I would derive any satisfaction from Sasuke sweeping in as the hand of justice.
Maybe I'll leave more cogent responses to comments when I'm coherent.

Whoa. When they said Mangekyou screwed up your vision they weren't kidding huh? Even so I never had thought it would degenerate that rapidly... I wonder how Kakashi's doing?
I don't think Sasuke meant copying Killer bee's power, but rather that Madara would hold up his part of the bargain and give him one of the tailed beasts somehow.

Hmm. You know, this sentence got me thinking... Konoha's elders or rather, that old woman and man (forgot their names, but you know who I'm talking about right?) seem to be doing what they believe is best for Konoha. And after looking at their actions objectively I have to say... while not necessarily right, what they did is perhaps best for Konoha.
They don't seem to relish any of their decisions nor hold any illusions about what they're doing and if Sasuke were to kill them he wouldn't get pleas for mercy or anything like that, but more of a: "You want revenge? Fine." kinda thing leading to another empty victory. Which I think is pretty cool.
The Raikage is going to gather all of the Kages to lay some smack down on Akatsuki! Does this mean we'll get to see Madara in action, or the tailed beasts he captured? Will Konoha face the invasion without it's Hokage? What about the Mizukage?
Kishimoto better make this awesome!

Hallelujah, I'm FINALLY detecting a hint of plot, rather than TRAINING MONTAGE, Sasuke gets a superpower, TRAINING MONTAGE, Sasuke gets a superpower, TRAINING MONTAGE...etc. (You couldn't think of anything for a while, could you? I SEE WHUT U DID THER, Kishimoto.)
Did anyone else want to laugh at our petulant Raikage? "But I want them to smack down Sasuke naaaaooooooow! AND I want a pony and a red corvette!" Whiner. No wonder your kid brother got spanked. Man up and track down the FIFTEEN YEAR OLD who beat your brother to a comatose pulp. Are you a kage or aren't you? Don't send minions. Your last minion didn't work. What makes you think these will? Jeez, you've got to wonder if the secondary theme to Peter Pan in Ninja Land is: "Adults are incompetent. Never grow up. Die before you hit eighteen and senility sets in!"
Side note: Ha ha, Sasuke's going blind. *immature neener neener dance* It's like Sasuke ALWAYS plays with the God Mode on. Give it a rest, and I'll like Sasuke soooo much better, Kishimoto.
Other side note: Yes, it would be incredibly awesome if Neji handed the elders their arses on a platter. But only if they're still awesome ninja. Because otherwise, Neji's just beating up on old people, and THAT is not awesome. It would be better still if Neji and Sai combined their powers )to form CAPTAIN PLANET!) to protect Naruto, while Naruto smacks Sasuke with the Common Sense Stick.

Oh, I don't doubt that the Konoha elders had the good of the village in mind, but that doesn't excuse their underhanded methods. Diplomacy didn't work (if they even tried) so they commit genocide and stage kidnappings, etc.
I wonder if they meant for Hizashi to sacrifice himself, or if the plan was thwarted. And if so, why didn't they keep trying to get rid of Hiashi?
And about Sasuke's vision: I actually thought that he was just having dizzy spells - you would think that if it's his eyesight that is degenerating, it would be a constant thing, and not something he notices or is affected by in spurts.
Maybe it's just my sadistic streak, but I kinda wanted Sasuke to have dizzy spells AND the inevitable degenerating eyesight. :)
Well, maybe he does have both--the dizzy spells and the degenerating vision. After all, one of his eyes seems to be drastically different than the other, and lord knows that sort of thing can seriously mess with your depth perception and give you dizzyness. (I would know, I've got one rapidly degenerating eye.)

Yeah I'm not trying to defend them or anything, I just thought that maybe I was taking them a whole lot worse than I should have. I mean, Madara's spinning the tale here and I found myself hating them because of what he said and not of what we actually saw them do... not that we really see much of them anyway...
Er, okay, I just figured out what you meant with Neji and the Hyuuga >_> What I thought the Raikage meant when he mentioned 'dealing with the Hyuuga' is that they didn't hesitate to sacrifice one of them when they had to, so why should this kid be any different. I didn't think it could have all just been an elaborate plot by the elders @_@
A dizzy spell makes more sense actually... I suppose Itachi would have been completely blind by the time of his last fight if it was that quick. I like the thought that it was his vision acting up, though. It's a good reminder for Sasuke that, sure, you've got all this power, but the price is a steep one.
No idea what the Hyuuga thing is about, but somehow, I REALLY doubt its to do with Neji. I think they probably meant a Hyuuga that had gone awol like Sasuke did (a Hyuuga missing nin) rather than some major conspiracy to do with Neji's father.
Wow, Sasuke's going ROUND THE TWIST, and his god-complex is really starting to get annoying, so I did a little dance when he got dragged back down to earth with his wavering eyesight, a reminder that HE IS NOT GOD.
What else? Oh yeah, I think what Sasuke meant when he said "i have a new power..." etc. was his ability to stop the Amaterasu, not the copying of Killerbee...
Maybe I'm giving Kishi too little credit?? Hmmmm...

Uh, Naruto? Let's think about some of the words in that sentence, shall we? "Perverted", "hermit", and, most importantly, "WATCHING". Plz to rephrase before I choke on my apple, kthxbai. :D
So. A little eye makeup looks good on him... But then I'm the kind of girl who used to make her husband wear eyeliner back when they were dating. ^_^;
